Georgian Self-catering Holiday Cottage on Cockermouth's Historic Kirkgate
WELCOME
Kirkbrae Cottage is a traditional terrace cottage situated in Cockermouth, a lively market town in the northern Lake District.
Built around 1730, the cottage is located on the Kirkgate, one of the original streets of the town, and still lined by small Georgian townhouses.
Although appearing small from the outside, the cottage is spacious, being made up of what were originally two separate houses joined together. It sleeps six comfortably in 3 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen/dining room and a comfortable lounge with its original open fireplace. The holiday cottage has recently been renovated, and now combines modern comfort with traditional character and charm. Click here to take the cottage tour.
Fronted by a cobbled forecourt, with horse chestnut trees, it overlooks All Saints Parish Church and sits opposite the seventeenth century Swan Inn. A short walk through the leafy churchyard, or by footbridge over the river Cocker takes you to the shops of the town centre.
There is
parking for one car on the cobbles just outside the cottage.
The town makes a perfect base for exploring the northern part of the National Park, with the Lorton Valley, Buttermere Fells, Crummock Water, Ullswater and the Keswick area, all within easy driving distance.
If you prefer to
holiday in a small town that has not become dominated by tourism,
Cockermouth is the place to be!
"We came, we saw, we loved it! Both cottage and this beautiful area conquered our hearts. Wordsworth's influence still lives on - we will return!"
